With over 20 years of international design experience, Director Scott Elliott Adams leads BPTW’s Urban Design service and directs our growing portfolio of large-scale architecture and planning projects. Scott has collaborated with both private and public sector organisations to develop a rich and varied portfolio of urban design projects, including being the highest-ranking urban designer in the UK Government via Public Practice. He has created spatial strategies for many major UK regeneration schemes, such as the award-winning Rochester Riverside masterplan for 1400 new homes, and has contributed to visionary projects internationally primarily in America and Australia, where he received the Australian Government’s prestigious Endeavour Executive Fellowship.

Scott’s design ethos is centred on exemplar placemaking. He has contributed to national publications on innovative design methods to enhance placemaking and suburban densification, and in his recent role with the UK Government’s Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, he led the delivery of the National Model Design Code testing programme and was a key contributor in defining the Design Code Pathfinder programme to deliver exemplary design codes and processes. His commitment to nurturing quality urban design is further demonstrated by his teaching experience at UCL’s Bartlett School of Planning, the University of Melbourne, and Washington University in St Louis, USA.
