We are thrilled to announce that Róisín Ní Chatháin and Steve Smith have been appointed as Partners at BPTW.

Róisín joined the practice in 2011, and since that time has led on the design and delivery of many of BPTW’s most significant large-scale residential, mixed-use and regeneration projects including, most recently 90 New Road in Havering and Blackwall Reach in Tower Hamlets. She also oversees BPTW’s Design Quality and Technical Strategic Group, ensuring the highest design quality standards across all our work. A Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists, in 2020 Roisin was named Architectural Technologist of the Year. In 2021 she was also awarded the Alumni of the Year award from Edinburgh Napier University for her dedication to the profession, and in recognition of her efforts to further the careers of the next generation of architectural technologists through a number of mentoring schemes. Beyond her profession Róisín’s passions extend into charitable work including her role as an ambassador for the Diaspora and Emigrants Centre in her hometown of Galway, Ireland. Her role will involve overseeing one of BPTW’s operational design groups, leading two design teams working on pre-and post-planning stages of projects across the private and public sectors.

Steve joined BPTW in 2019. As a Chartered Accountant Steve has brought his experience in accounting, taxation and business advisory to assist with business strategy and oversee the direction of BPTW’s finance department. He has also taken a lead on the resourcing requirements on our projects, working closely with others to ensure our resources are allocated effectively and efficiently. Aside from the numbers, Steve plays a key role in helping make BPTW a great place to work through his oversight of staff welfare initiatives, including encouraging participation in social and sporting activities to promote a healthy work-life balance.

We are delighted with these new appointments to the partnership which reflect Róisín and Steve’s dedication, as well their continued contributions to the success of our projects and business practices. Now 130-strong with studios in London and the Midlands, BPTW continues to secure a range of exciting and significant projects across the public and private sectors. To deliver these projects to the exceptional standards required, the practice is continuing its steady growth and is evolving to respond to the changing demands of the housing sector including the urgency of the response to climate change and bringing forward new homes that will be energy efficient and environmentally sustainable. As we tailor our services to meet the needs of our clients, these promotions reflect our drive to continue to develop a strong leadership team to take the business forward over the coming years.

We hope you will join us in wishing Róisín and Steve every success in their new roles.
