The Role

We are expanding our finance team and are now looking to recruit a part time Management Accountant. This new role will work alongside the Finance Manager, supporting the Finance Partner.

The Management Accountant will be responsible for maintaining the Practice’s accounting records and the accurate and timely reporting of monthly and quarterly management information.

The ideal candidate will have a good knowledge of UK commercial accounting procedures and hold relevant accountancy qualifications such as AAT, ACCA, CIMA, or be working towards qualifying.

Experience of working with Sage would be an advantage. We would also encourage applications from those who have prior experience of working with, or in, the architecture or construction industries.

This position is part time, 3 days (22.5 hours) per week and we are open to discussing how these hours can be spread throughout the week (Monday to Friday).

  • Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail
  • Able to work to deadlines and manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Highly numerate with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Works well within a team environment
  • Comfortable building relationships at Partner level and with senior members of staff
  • An interest in the built environment would be an advantage

Essential skills and attributes

  • Experience of working in a similar role
  • AAT, ACCA, CIMA qualified or working towards qualifying and familiarity with UK commercial accounting procedures
  • Intermediate to advanced level bookkeeping
  • Intermediate to advanced level MS Excel skills
  • Ability to present data clearly

Desirable

  • VAT return preparation
  • Experience with Sage Line 50 or similar accounting package
  • Statutory Audit experience
  • Knowledge of personal taxation
  • Knowledge of payroll and pensions
  • Credit control experience

Primary duties

  • Assisting the Finance Partner with month and quarter end close, including the posting of journals for depreciations, accruals and prepayments.
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assisting with Fee and Profit and Loss forecasting
  • Assisting with preparation of the quarterly management information board pack
  • Ad hoc reports and projects
