We are delighted to announce that this week our design for Colville Road, Cambridge, secured planning permission at committee with unanimous approval.

The 100% affordable development provides 69 homes for in a variety of houses and apartments and was designed for Cambridge Investment Partnership, a joint venture between Cambridge City Council and developer Hill.

The four-storey apartment block uses a simple material palette, articulation in fa├žade design, variation of parapet heights and recessed and projecting balconies to produce a simple yet interesting aesthetic. The houses take visual cues from the local context and relate to surrounding buildings in Cherry Hinton. Variation in the colour of doors and window frames coupled with the careful articulation of brickwork brings architectural interest to the houses at a street level. The landscaping uses shared surfaces and green spaces to create areas for play, communal gardens and routes through the site to minimise the visual impact of car parking.

Colville Road is one of a number of design schemes we have been working on for Cambridge Investment Partnership. We look forward to continuing our work in the Cambridge, delivering new affordable homes for the area.
