We are thrilled to announce that BPTW’s Sojia Johnson has recently qualified as an architect!

Sojia completed her Bachelor’s degree in architecture at the University of Kerala, India and subsequently undertook professional experience in Dubai. She moved to the UK in 2018 to pursue her Part 2 Masters degree at the University of Kent, Canterbury and completed her Part 3 qualification at the University of Westminster in 2023, whilst working at BPTW.

Despite completing both her Part 2 and Part 3 qualifications in the UK, Sojia could not immediately register with the ARB as her undergraduate course did not hold Part 1 accreditation. She subsequently undertook the ARB’s Prescribed Examination route for her Part 1 completing earlier this year. Over two years had lapsed in the period between passing her Part 3 and passing her prescribed exams so Sojia was required to submit additional information to the ARB’s Competency Standards Group (CSG) to demonstrate her competency before finally being admitted to the register of Architects in March of this year.

This is a fantastic achievement and reflects Sojia’s dedication, resilience, and continued commitment to pursuing a career as a qualified architect.

Nurturing is a core value at BPTW so we are proud to support staff through diverse routes towards registration. We are also encouraged that the ARB’s new streamlined approach to joining the register will remove some of the existing barriers faced by career changers and those with relevant/adjacent qualifications wishing to enter the profession in the future.

A big congratulations to Sojia from everyone at BPTW!
