To celebrate International Women’s Day 2022, BPTW ran a number of initiatives which highlighted the achievements and experiences of women in the architecture and construction industries. On the day, our HR team provided an update on our equality, diversity and inclusion agenda, including highlighting that we have a 50/50 gender split across the practice, followed by a breakfast. Female staff members also shared their experiences of working in the industry and how they have utilised some of the policies we have in place to support staff in balancing their work and home life commitments, including flexible working and enhanced maternity and paternity pay.

To continue our support for the many inspirational and talented women in our field, staff also shared recommendations of activities, exhibitions, shows, reading material and charities to engage with through our internal channels.

Throughout the week, staff also took part in an International Women’s Day themed quiz, learning more about the history of inspirational women around the world and in the built environment. The winner will select a charity that supports women for BPTW to make a donation towards, which we look forward to announcing soon.

We are proud to be an inclusive practice which champions the progress of so many accomplished women. Through our EDI Steering Group, we are continuing to strive for more diversity, particularly through reviews of our pay and recruitment processes, ensuring equality exists across the practice.
