We are pleased to have welcomed a number of participants from Leaders in Community’s Be.Inspired project to the practice last week, an empowerment project which provides young women with career talks and workshops on a wide range of issues.

Designed to help improve the young women’s confidence, self-esteem and knowledge of the interviewing process, we hosted a series of ‘employer style’ mock interviews with feedback and advice on how prepare for future interviews. These interviews will now lead to us offering five placements to work at our studio over the summer and gain a valuable insight into a career in architecture. Participants were also taken on a walking tour of some of BPTW’s Greenwich projects to bolster the young women’s understanding of the work we do.

The mock interviews were delivered as part of a package of social value we are providing at the Teviot Estate in Tower Hamlets, a 1,750-home masterplan for Poplar HARCA and Hill. The scheme will also provide a range of shops, community and faith facilities as well as public realm improvements which will have a lasting positive impact on the community.
