BPTW are delighted to see planning approval recently granted for Fitzwilliam Road near to the Botanic Gardens in Cambridge. Appointed by This Land Limited in 2018, BPTW liaised with the client throughout to ensure that the design embodies the aspirations and requirements of the anticipated residents.
The design concept is drawn from the local vernacular of the garden wall, a strong characteristic of the neighbouring conservation area. The design references and continues this element, incorporating it into the design. The material palette references the local character and conservation area with a variety of brick colours and textures to provide visual interest, including hit and miss brick detailing. Further architectural richness is introduced through the use of contemporary metal railings and profiled timber cladding.
