Having Joined BPTW in 2023, Adalgisa and Ronniela balanced the demands of part time study and work, to successfully graduate as Part 2 certified Architects.
Adalgisa has made many strong contributions at BPTW as part of Dale Taylor’s team, splitting her time working and studying at the University of Westminster.
‘Dales team have been incredibly supportive throughout my Master’s. I’m grateful for their flexibility and encouragement, which allowed me to balance full-time study with part-time work at BPTW to continue gaining valuable experience, while completing my studies.’ // Adalgisa, Part 2 Architect //
Learning about the conservation of historic buildings, their processes and criteria was a highlight of Adalgisas experience; consequently giving her greater appreciation of the balance between preserving historical significance and meeting modern needs.
Adalgisa was able to explore these themes to positive review in her dissertation titled: ‘Reimagining Heritage Law in Angola: Does conserving heritage sites in former colonies reinforce colonial legacies or foster cultural identity?’
Adalgisa highlights that BPTW’s core values, specifically ‘Collaborative and Passionate’ were key drivers towards her professional development, and looks forward to working towards her part 3.
Ronniela began her journey with BPTW in 2023 as a Part 1 Architectural Assistant and has continued to work with the practice while studying for her Part 2 qualification at the University of Bath.
Ronniela gives thanks to Olivia Pfiel, who she describes as being an incredible mentor throughout her time at BPTW; taking time to answer questions, and supporting her alongside coursework. Ronniela Part 2 course was made up of both dissertation and group design project on a masterplan for a Post-Oil Norway. Her individual project, which sits within the masterplan, is a reimagining of a Nordic Naturskole which aims to introduce environmental stewardship through experiential and intergenerational learning.
On her return to BPTW, Ronniela looks forward to developing her skillset and taking on more responsibility as she commences her part 3 qualifications. Summarising her time with BPTW Ronnelia describes the value of ‘Nurturing‘ being the most prominent:
