BPTW's planning consultancy team is coordinating the planning submission for circa 300 new homes as part of LB Hounslow's pledge to build 5000 affordable homes by 2022.
The size, condition, and ownership of each site varies considerably, including joint venture opportunities with private developers, Grade II listed buildings for renovation, infill sites and estate regeneration. All schemes are designed to be highly energy efficient and reduce carbon emissions well beyond policy requirements. In addition to providing high quality, sustainable housing, the package of planning applications includes extensive works to existing estates including improvements to public realms, pedestrian access, parking and cycle facilities and play facilities.
Critical to our success was the extensive consultation process our planning consultancy team carried out. Conducted in line with social distancing requirements during the pandemic, engagement sessions were predominantly virtual, however we ensured inclusivity in our approach and provided those without internet access with alternative ways to input.
To date four sites have secured planning permission for zero and low carbon homes described as “flagship” projects by the council totalling 154 homes.
