The regeneration of the historic Excalibur Estate has seen 186 pre-fabricated homes being replaced with 371 new houses and apartments across a mix of tenures.
As one of the last remaining post war pre-fab estates in London, the project required BPTW to work extensively with the GLA and English Heritage to secure planning approval.
BPTW devised a planning strategy for Excalibur Estate which overcame complex issues of listed buildings and the sensitivities of existing estate tenants and local residents. Through careful consultation and collaboration with the design team, the scheme was modified to enable provision for a range of specialist housing, including specific over 55’s blocks and wheelchair housing.
