bptw’s scheme on Wardalls Grove, a new residential development in New Cross, Lewisham for Hyde HA, has been shortlisted for the Sustainable Housing Awards in the Larger New Housing Project of the Year category. The development comprises 124 contemporary houses and apartments arranged around communal landscaped spaces, and was commissioned as an important strategic development that is enabling Hyde to benchmark various renewable energy systems and Passivhaus construction against more traditional Code standards as part of a sustainability development plan.
Built by contractor Osborne, the scheme utilises renewable energy and water saving technologies including photovoltaic panels, air and ground source heat pumps, and whole house heat recovery ventilation. The project also provided the opportunity to implement a Youth Life Skills Programme, amongst various other community and resident based initiatives. The awards, organised by Inside Housing magazine, will be presented at a ceremony at the Lancaster London Hotel in late October.
