This week bptw continued its support for local charity The Ahoy Centre by raising almost £3,000 from our recent charity rowing challenge. Last month two teams from bptw took part in the Meridian Pull, an 8.5 mile row from Westminster to Greenwich to fundraise for the Deptford based charity which works with young people to help them develop life skills and equip them with nationally recognised qualifications.
As part of our ‘giving something back initiative’ the practice committed to match staff fundraising efforts, with bptw partner Alan Wright recently handing over the final donations to Shane Macdonald, an AHOY Activity Leadership apprentice currently completing a year-long apprenticeship with the charity. He speaks more about his experience in a video found here.
The rowing challenge was completed last month by our two teams, the bptw blades and Whatever Floats Your Boat, who completed the 8.5 mile challenge in just over 1 hour 23 minutes and 1 hour 29 minutes respectively, with bptw blades coming in first place out of 8 other teams taking part on the day. bptw will continue to support the charity and are holding a staff summer party at the AHOY centre in August.
