Station Approach, Pitsea, Essex
Station Approach is a large mixed use residential scheme for Genesis Housing Group. The £12.5m scheme is on a prominent corner site in the centre of Pitsea in Essex and comprises 121 high quality one and two bed mixed tenure apartments with a raised podium garden to the rear of the building and five ground floor commercial units to provide opportunities for local businesses.
bptw’s design vastly improved the public realm surrounding the site, providing an open landscaped area surrounded by trees, whilst joining the town centre to local shops and improving access to Pitsea Railway Station. bptw acted as lead consultant throughout the planning and post contract phases and, on completion, the scheme was highly commended following a Building for Life 2 assessment exercise by Thames Gateway South Essex (TGSE). Station Approach was featured at the South Essex Housing Conference as an exemplar illustration of TGSE’s wider aims for regeneration and growth in the area.
