The Junction, Brixton

Client: Network Homes and SW9 Community Housing

Creating 92 private modern apartments, the £14m development takes advantage of the prominent corner site to create a new and vibrant gateway to the existing Stockwell Park Estate. The mixed use scheme also provides new offices for SW9 Community Housing which, with improved and modern facilities, will enable them to expand and diversify the range of services they provide.

The creation of a building of exemplar architectural quality symbolises the change and transformation of the area, improving the legibility of the spaces around the site and creating connectivity between the estate, Brixton Town Centre and the adjacent Max Roach Park with the introduction of safe and attractive pedestrian routes. Responding to the London Housing Design Guide, bptw have developed flat layouts to achieve a high proportion of dual aspect homes with walkway access, maximising natural light into dwellings, and offering a balcony or sunspace to every home.

The Junction was highly commended at the Evening Standard New Homes Awards 2016 in the 'Best First Time Buyer Home' category as well as securing first place in the What House? Awards 2016 for the 'Best Starter Scheme'.
