Bond House, New Cross

Client: D & DW Ovenell

Bond House is a mixed-use regeneration scheme that will provide 89 homes in a mix of apartments and maisonettes, with 862sqm of commercial space. The double height commercial space has been configured to act as an attractor and wayfinding device along the adjacent 'Route 1' cycle route.

Design proposals for the scheme maximise dual aspect dwellings as well as natural light into living spaces and cross ventilation within the dwellings. The tallest element of the scheme is situated at the junction of Batavia and Goodwood Road and seeks to offer prominence to the junction. To reflect the local historic context, London stock buff brick is utilised as the primary material with brick feature panels and deep window reveals. The brick is further offset by timber reveals to the balconies whilst the commercial space is detailed with smooth concrete edging and bronze coloured louvres.

The scheme was granted planning permission June 2016, with bptw providing architecture, planning and visualisation services.
