bptw partnership’s Head of planning was successful in gaining planning for a new mixed use development located next to the railway line in Deptford in a defined employment area.
The scheme comprises 89 homes, arranged in three individual blocks from 6 to 8 storeys. The scheme also includes commercial space, parking spaces and secure cycle storage for 68 bikes.
The scheme provides 10% renewable energy via a community heating system and incorporates a sustainable urban drainage system. Modern Methods of Construction have also been utilised in the form of bathroom pods.
The design balances the need for scale alongside the railway line, with a sensitive response to the adjacent, mainly low-rise, existing residential community opposite. The Council was keen to encourage a contemporary modern development that would reflect its aspirations of Creative Lewisham.
