



Tottenham Town Hall
bptw partnership is undertaking proposals for the refurbishment of Tottenham Town Hall together with a new build residential development of 109 new homes on the adjacent former Council depot site. Haringey Council Planning Committee member Councillor Bob Hare congratulated bptw partnership on the high quality of the design proposals fitting in with the context of the listed building at planning committee.
bptw has worked closely with Newlon Housing Trust and United House since 2005 to develop the exciting competition-winning scheme with a brief to safeguard the future of the Grade II Listed Town Hall creating community spaces and provide new housing in the heart of Tottenham. Works to Edwardian Baroque style Town Hall included refurbishment of interior rooms and external the façade, the installation of new internal access, lift and toilets to enable the continued public use of the original Council Chamber, the Moselle Room, with its stunning Moorish-Jacobean style ceiling. The completion of the town hall in March 2011 marks the end of phase 1, with the new build residential phase 2 element imminent.
Careful liaison with English Heritage was a key part of this project, alongside public engagement involving the local community on many levels. The new build element of the scheme will achieve Code Level 3 with, amongst other measures, the use of PV solar energy.
