Wardalls Grove

bptw’s architects have gained planning permission for the redevelopment of Wardalls Grove, a new mixed tenure residential development on a site occupied by a disused hospital.

The former hospital site will be transformed into a high quality new scheme of 124 houses and flats arranged around an integrated communal space for a range of residents.

Two rows of terraced houses will also be included in the development offering larger family homes. New proposals concentrate on improving routes through the site so that access is simply laid out.

bptw worked closely with both the London Borough of Lewisham’s design panel and locals to design a scheme which is appropriate to its context and provides a good mix of housing whilst remaining financially viable.

A sensitive palette of brick and panel materials has been chosen to fit in with the surrounding context, with the green panels giving the scheme its own identity.
