Danbury Palace

bptw partnership has been commissioned to provide designs for the conversion of historic Danbury Palace.

The Grade II listed building has lain empty for some time having previously been used as a conference centre by the Anglia Ruskin University. Although in need of restoration, the building still retains many of the original 1830’s features.

bptw’s successful planning application included designs for the conversion of the original palace and chapel into eleven flats, with four extra flats being converted from the stable block.

Also on the current site is a 1970’s student accommodation block which is to be demolished and replaced with 34 new build flats. All the apartments will be designed to a luxury, high specification finish. Due to the nature of the palace layout, the units will have larger than average living spaces, with some providing over 200 sqft of floor space.

The grounds and gardens of the palace are registered with many trees, topiary and landscaped 1920’s style features. Residents of the converted flats would have the use of the spacious grounds as shared amenity space.
