Rawalpindi House, Newham
bptw’s planners provided strategy development advice and assisted Genesis Housing Association in selecting an architect for the redevelopment of Rawilpindi House, Newham. The scheme involves the demolition of a vacant care home to facilitate the construction of 53 new residential units with associated landscaping, access, refuse/recycling facilities, and cycle storage.
bptw operated as joint lead consultant throughout the pre-application process, leading discussions with housing, transport and a number of member forums to determination at various planning and cabinet meetings. Adhering to Newham’s Sustainable Community Strategy for 2010- 2013, bptw were instrumental in engaging with the local community which resulted in strong community backing. Our planners ensured that the proposals adhered to relevant local and national policy, including Newham’s Unitary Development Plan, also advising the client on S106 obligations and the Mayoral CIL. We subsequently co-ordinated the submission of the full application which gained approval in September 2013.
