Convoys Wharf, Deptford

Client: Hutchison Property Group
Quanta: outline application for up to 3,500 residential units, 15,500sqm business space, retention of on-site listed building, 5,810sqm retail space, provision of a river bus facility, a wharf, 4,520sqm restaurants/cafes, 13,000sqm of community facilities and a hotel of up to 27,070 sqm

bptw planning secured outline planning permission in March 2015 to build up to 3,500 new homes on a site in Deptford that had been derelict for 15 years. The well-publicised 40 acre regeneration of Convoys Wharf will open up the waterfront and the Thames Path for the first time in 100 years, as well as deliver 3,500 new homes and over 100,000sqm of commercial and community spaces, including a new school, healthcare facilities, retail and open realm.

bptw planning engaged extensively with the local community and stakeholders in delivering a scheme which was highly commended by the Mayor of London, who commented: “We need to build thousands of new homes in the capital and proposals to do that at Convoys Wharf have stalled for far too long. I am pleased that we have been able to work on a scheme that will have enormous social and economic benefits for local people while preserving the heritage aspects of the site.”
