9 Independents Road, South London
bptw planning was appointed to submit an appeal to the Planning Inspectorate following LB Lewisham’s refusal of a planning and conservation area consent application for the redevelopment of 9 Independents Road, Blackheath. The site, formerly used as a day care centre, had been vacant for some time and is being redeveloped to provide 16 residential units in a mix of 1 bed apartments and 2 and 3 bed maisonettes in a part 5, part 6 storey building including 20 cycle spaces, amenity space and landscaping.
bptw produced a written representation statement in support of the appeal, addressing concerns regarding impact on traffic and the character of the conservation area, the grounds on which the application was refused. Our planners provided a rebuttal of the council’s case, demonstrating that the scheme adheres to the local planning policy framework. The appeal was allowed in September 2013.
