223-225 Lewisham High Street, Lewisham

Client: Cobalt Ltd
Quanta: 22 residential units plus commercial space

Working on behalf of Cobalt Ltd, bptw secured planning permission at committee for the redevelopment of an existing two-storey office building on the busy Lewisham High Street, situated within Lewisham Town Centre.

The original 1960s building which comprises a two-storey frontage, with a number of later single and two-storey additions to the rear, will be redeveloped to provide a cohesive mixed use development. The permitted scheme comprises a part four/part five-storey building with an improved commercial unit at ground level along with 22 residential units to the rear and on upper floors. The residential element features inset balconies, a communal roof terrace, and a living roof and green wall.

With the site fronting onto two parallel streets, the development has been designed to address the different characters of the two street scenes. The taller five-storey element of the building, comprising the commercial unit and residential units above, fronts onto the busy High Street, whilst the lower four-storey element comprising solely residential units fronts onto the quieter Clipper Way toward the rear of the site.
