bptw’s scheme at Cross Street in Chatham was granted planning approval last week. Designed on behalf of mhs homes, the development involves the demolition of a sheltered housing block and office building to facilitate the construction of one 5 storey and three 4 storey residential buildings; providing a total of 50 new homes, with associated car parking and landscaping.
The project provides a high quality residential scheme which will complement the local surroundings. Varied building heights enhance the existing urban grain of the area, taking into account the surrounding built form and massing of both the existing buildings and bptw’s recently approved scheme on Eldon Street. The new unified brick facade references proportions and materials found in the historic buildings of Chatham, whilst bringing the street up to date.
