The Boatyard, Ealing

Client: Notting Hill Housing

The Boatyard, Ealing is an elegant new canal-side development in a conservation area characterised by parks and open spaces. The brownfield site, once a boatyard for British Waterways, now houses a modern sustainable development comprising of 26 apartments and 4 town houses fronting the Grand Union Canal.

A sensitive design approach appropriate to the context of the natural surroundings was utilised on the scheme with the incorporation of existing trees and landscape elements into the design. Screened by tall mature trees, the remarkable development is set in its own private grounds with many of the apartments offering views over the canal from individual balconies and terraces. A communal secure play area for young children is also provided along with a dedicated parking space for each home

The new homes achieve Code for Sustainable Homes level 4 and are built to generous space standards with modern, energy saving fixtures and fittings.  bptw architecture were retained by contractor Bugler for the delivery of the technical design phase.
