Sittingbourne Mill and Wharf, Kent

Client: Essential Land

Sittingbourne Mill is a £95million mixed use regeneration project which will provide up to 200 new homes, extensive landscaped amenity spaces, a Morrison’s superstore and numerous leisure and community facilities. Working on behalf of Essential Land, bptw’s architects were appointed as masterplanners to develop exciting plans for the historic Sittingbourne Paper Mill and a connected wharf site in Kent.

The development will act as catalyst for the wider regeneration of Sittingbourne Town Centre and provide much needed high quality family housing. Improvements to the public realm will open up the area to the public with new safe and attractive links for pedestrians and cyclists between the sites and into the town centre. A new access road will also serve the new development and, running alongside Milton Creek, a waterside park will provide a new habitat for local wildlife together with relaxing walking routes for visitors, transforming the old wharfside into an exciting destination for local people and tourists.
