Ivydale Road, Southwark

Client: Family Mosaic

Designed for Family Mosaic to reflect the architecture of the existing street terrace pattern, this mixed tenure scheme offers twelve 3 and 4 bedroom houses and two 1 bedroom apartments on a site adjoining the Nunhead Cemetery Conservation area.

In keeping with the local architecture, Victorian inspired homes are built in timber frame with traditional brick cladding and achieve Code Level 4. Within the four bedroom properties, the rooms are located within the roof space, achieving a larger family home without requiring a wider building footprint. With emphasis on high quality, family living, generous external spaces include a front patio, a large rear garden and an innovative wildlife corridor which is being left uncultivated to encourage plants and wildlife.

bptw were responsible for both the planning and technical design on the project, which was listed in the Top 50 UK Affordable Housing Developments.
