Factory Quarter, West London

Client: Genesis Housing Group

Larden Road is a high density, mixed-use development of the former Prestolite factory in Acton. bptw worked collaboratively with Genesis Housing Group and the wider project team to develop an independent but co-ordinated design for over 190 homes within the development. bptw’s design involved conversion and alterations, retaining key aspects of the original factory buildings while combining a contemporary mix of brick, render, coloured glazing and timber to produce a robust and sustainable new flatted scheme. Our architects undertook a detailed analysis of the outline consented scheme, developing a range of alternatives which achieved a significantly better quality layout which was subsequently agreed with the local planning authority.

The entire project provides over 450 mixed tenure new homes, in addition to commercial space and an extensive range of mixed-use amenities including a nursery/healthcare centre, business units and community facilities.
