Cambridge House, Croydon

Cambridge House is a landmark 26-storey residential building located on Wellesley Road in the heart of Croydon’s tall buildings district. There are a number of emerging tall buildings in the immediate vicinity of the site including Westfield Croydon and a 55-storey residential tower. The proposal provides 92 new homes in a variety of one, two and three bedroom flats, all of which include winter gardens. The tight nature of the site has resulted in an efficient layout, enabling 79% of dwellings to be dual or triple-aspect, thus providing residents with high levels of natural light and a far reaching outlook across London. The winter gardens allow residents to open up or fully enclose their private amenity space which is particularly important at height and acts as an added buffer for the living spaces between the busy road. Cycle storage is provided on the first floor, so as to maximise the ability for an active street frontage at ground level. Currently at planning stage, it is proposed that the development will provide 50% shared ownership units and 10% of dwellings will be capable of adaption for wheelchair users.
